Zidane bound for coaching greatness after ending Real Madrid title drought

Real Madrid s five-year wait to win LaLiga is over. That s a long time for any club; for the most successful in Spain, it s an eternity.

Sunday s 2-0 win over Malaga was a fitting way to clinch their 33rd top-flight triumph, and a first since Jose Mourinho was in charge in 2011-12. Madrid were imperfect, but resolute, as they have been so often across the 38 matches.

Zinedine Zidane has made that redoubtable belief part of the fabric of the squad. He deserves bigger credit than anyone for this most coveted of titles – more so because praise of the Frenchman has been in short supply.

Zidane s appointment as head coach in January 2015 came at a turbulent moment. The Rafael Benitez experiment had resulted in Clasico humiliation, Copa del Rey embarrassment and muti…

Ange Postecoglou unsure whether Spurs coach Chris Davies will take Swansea job

Ange Postecoglou says Tottenham could be set for another blow with his senior assistant coach Chris Davies yet to make a decision over the vacant Swansea job.

Spurs rejected an approach from the Sky Bet Championship club to speak with Davies earlier this week, but the Welsh outfit have not given up hoping of hiring Postecoglou’s number two as Michael Duff’s replacement.

Ex-Celtic and Leicester coach Davies was on the touchline for Tottenham’s 2-1 home loss to West Ham on Thursday, which made it four defeats in five for the injury-hit hosts.

Henry: FSG not trying to sell Liverpool

Liverpool owner John Henry says the Premier League club is not for sale but talks are ongoing with potential investors.

Fenway Sports Group (FSG) stated in November that they are open to new investment, but remain fully committed to achieving more success with the Reds.

Despite FSG making clear they are looking for investment rather than a sale, there have been reports that a takeover could be on the cards.

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner said the club s owners were exploring a sale in November, though FSG partner Sam Kennedy stressed it was early days in terms of a deal being struck.

However, speaking to the Boston Sports Journal, principal owner Henry ruled out the prospect of a change of ownership, though he revealed talks have been held with possible mi…

City want to follow UEFA rules, says Guardiola

Pep Guardiola believes Manchester City want to follow the rules set by football s governing bodies amid allegations that the Premier League champions flagrantly breached Financial Fair Play (FFP) laws.

German magazine Der Spiegel has made a series of claims against City this week in an on-going series of articles, which are based on documents purportedly attained from whistleblowers Football Leaks.

Der Spiegel s reporting claims Sheikh Mansour s City regime have topped up multi-million pound sponsorship deals with Abu Dhabi companies, using their owner s fortune, in order to meet UEFA s FFP stipulations.
